Level 2 Functional Skills in English and Maths

Level 2 Functional Skills qualifications are designed to provide learners with practical skills in English and Maths that are essential for everyday life, employment, and further education. These qualifications are equivalent to a grade C or grade 4.

These qualifications can be used along with a science GCSE/Level 2 DipVNA qualification to gain entry onto the Level 3 Diploma in Veterinary Nursing.

Course content

English Functional Skills: The Level 2 English Functional Skills course focuses on improving communication skills, both written and verbal. It covers areas such as reading, writing, speaking, listening, and communication. The course aims to build confidence in using English in various settings, from professional environments to everyday interactions.

Maths Functional Skills: The Level 2 Maths Functional Skills course covers a range of topics designed to develop real-life numeracy skills and problem-solving abilities. Key areas include using numbers, understanding measure, shape, and space, and handling information and data. The course emphasises practical applications, such as budgeting and planning travel.

Course Structure

The courses are entirely online, allowing learners to study at their own pace and convenience. This is particularly beneficial for those with busy schedules or other commitments.

The courses include interactive content such as video tutorials, practice questions, and mock exams. This helps learners engage with the material and track their progress. There is also an option to book 1:1 tutor support (additional cost) to help those who may be struggling with some of the materials).
